  • Think my 401 has had it

I have just replaced my digital tail servo as it was knackered for a c1016mg which is not digital, I changed the little switch on the gyro to turn digital off. Then I spooled the helicopter up while holding it (I know it’s not the best thing to do) but when I turned the helicopter left to right it was going mad flicking left to right like it was on drugs. I have only had the gyro just over a month, any ideas???

worth re binding and checking that all connections are OK. I dont know what tx you have but I have had similar issues in the past and re-setting eveything seems to have worked - dont give up on the gyro yet - do you have another heli that you can try it on?

            Good luck

try flicking the digi/normal servo switch on n off a few times to be sure it's not dodgy connection (unlikely).

Definitetly try a few experiments with low gain and find another servo to try with it.
If you've been flying in drizzle (not that I have ever flown in rain/fog or snow) then you could try wanging the delay and gain pots up and down a few times to clean any crud - again unlikely, but something else to try. Let us know if you get it working.

I have only just got back, thanks for the replies. I have tried messing about with everything. Turning the gain down made it a bit better, but the gyro was not counteracting the movements I was making like It should do. I’ll have a proper play about tomorrow try re binding and try another servo.

Good news, I don’t think the gyro had had it. I changed the tail servo back to the stock one and it fly’s without going to mad. BUT when hovering in the back garden the tail was wagging slightly then it would jump round a ¼ of a turn. I have changed the gyro setting up and down on the rx but did not sort it. Any suggestions?????

The new servo sounds like it is running opposite to the original so it will be a reversing problem!

Refitting the old servo seems to bear this out!

Reason the old servo is now playing up is probably because you have fiddled with the settings and upset them for the old servo

Nope, not a reversing problem. When I put stick inputs the tail was moving in the right direction. When I changed to the 401 gyro awhile I didn’t reverse it and it frightened the living hell out of me so when installing anything I make sure everything moves in the right direction.

nope belt tenshion is fine, i am thinking i just need a better servo than the stock one, i only put it on there to make sure the 401 aint buggerd. i think the stock one cant keep up with the 401 thats why its wagging.
