I've got 6 receivers in total - a mix of 4 JR and 2 Sanwa. They're all PPM. I definately need to get into PCM now that I'm flying a 90 sized heli, and probably for all my other helis as well if the truth be known.
It's funny I fiddled around with the Gyro screen for ages on my PCM9X with my 1st heli and could never get it to work well that way. It worked but just never right so I switched back to the gear channel and thats what I've done with all the rest.

To be honest if you feel that servo is too expensive I'd be inclined to say you are in the wrong hobby but if you can find one the SuperTec S09CL/2BB or at a push S17CLN/2BB could be used but if it were my Heli I'd rather stump up the extra £20 or so for the 9254

I'm agree with smoothhound, also he's correct about the 9256, thats what i use with my 720's.the 601 and 611 usually come with there matched servo anyway.
If you can't afford a 9253/4 save until you can you'll only end up buying one anyway once you've wasted a bit more cash finding out that the cheaper servo's don't work properly with a gyro.
May sound cockey but most of these people on here are speaking from experience.

If it ain't broke fix it until it is
yes i'm an idiot and no i couldn't care any less
I used to fly my Nexus with a S148 and a piezo gyro, gave me no problems with wagging etc but probably because it was not a HH gyro. I then upgraded to a CSM400 with a Hitec 5925 digital servo. Excellent torque and not bad speed (0.1/60 I think!). I think these are cheaper than Futaba (i was poor at the time - no change then!)
Anyway I now use a 401 with a 9254 which is superb although a chap i know upgraded from a 401 to a 502 with 9254 when he built his 2nd rappy 50 and commented that the 502 seemed to fly better as he started 3d flying...
