SJMII- Thanks for the link.. Will run through it and double check that I have everything right.

It's ok at the moment.. holds very well, but just a slight wag at times. Not sure if it is the outdoor wind not being kind to a small heli.

if it wags slowly, don't look for the problem in the gyro. It's mechanical, or in the servo.

Well, its not so much as a wag, but it pulls to one side as you do more of an aggressive climb out. I think the servo on there is pretty good (9257), and the links are all free. Nothings bent, ore tight on the tail.

Checked the pitch, and it isn't that I have too much top end pitch.. but I'm thinking maybe changing the motor with a scorpion for a bit more poke.. and maybe more torque?.. Just an idea.

more headspeed might help, and less pitch (sorry, I may have already mentioned this, not sure if it was the same thread).
Anyway, I can't get the tails to hold perfectly with any gyro. For example, in rainbows I need to correct the tail constantly.

Well.. I'm happy with the 250. It is running good at the moment. I will double check my pitch again.. and may reduce it slightly. Haven't got a tach, but I'm guessing its running a pretty high headspeed.

Pretty hairy moment with a pretty botched up manouver today, and the tail still managed to hold very well!

I'm going to be sticking with this servo and gyro combo at the moment.

I reduced the pitch on mine to +-8 and it was still losing the tail on straight forward climbs no bogging at all, not badly just a slow swing but none the less crap compared to my Spartans, 401's and 720's for not a lot more money.

I've just taken the 250 out today for a blast.. Have gone back to the smaller tail blades... reduced the gain, and it handles extremely well.

..very pleased with it, and now happy to stick with it!

..and tbh it is a lot better than the 401 I tried in it.

I'd chuck it on ebay if I was confident it was just me being picky or too thick to set it up correctly

once set up properly its better than a 401 in my opinion

Think it's really a case of experimenting with different settings etc. TBH.. I have not tinkered much with helis this small, and always thought they were a waste of time trying to get one to fly well, as I have tried several gyros, tails servos, blades etc

Basically, haven't seen anyone elses fly, nor how they set them up, so I was really on my own, and help from forums.

I can still get it to wag a bit if I'm really heavy on the collectives.. going from one move to another, but, I think I may bring down the gain a point or two. I've got it set on 54% with my dx7 at the moment.. no hint of letting go, so will probably give it a go.

It actually flies a dream now..

I've got mine behaving a bit better now but it's still not good.

Tails pretty stable in HH and Rate but on nose left stops I get bounce and nose right stops I get mush. I've got the bounce down to a single medium bounce from breaking into a violent wag by fiddling with the gain and rotate rate but I can't get any better than I am at now

as said, I've never managed to get it perfect. Anyway, abrupt piro stops are unphysical - more expensive gyros avoid the problem by allowing controlled "overshooting" - i.e. deceleration profile etc.
One thing you can check is the blade pitch in positive / negative direction:
                                - fold the tail blades so that they form a "V", when looking down
                                - compare left / right endpoint, whether the angle is approximately the same.
Depending on the heli, you may get much more pitch in one direction than the other. And that's a problem...
