  • Logitech LTG-2100T Gyro woes

Are these generally pretty good or not.

I have one and I can't get it to work properly at all, not sure if it's poop or just my setup

It's in use on a 250 with it's matched servo.

Servo arm is at about 7mm which to me is too far out and should make it wag like mad with any quantity of gain but I've just wound it up to 150% on my Tx, all the lights on the gyro light up but although the tail holds in the hover it swings on increasing or decreasing the pitch.

    I'm stumped

T-Rex 250 with anything from 80 to 100% on ESC makes no difference at all

Judging by the response it's obviously not a popular bit of kit. I had heard they were supposed to be better than a 401 but I find myself drawn to looking for a 401.

I use a 401 on mine Phil, and although I have had a few issues setting it up (found to be a tight link) it now holds fine. The only other issue I had was when it developed a wag as you described but this turned out to be the tail grips retaining screws had worked loose. might be worth a look

From what ive read about the 2100 they are a good gyro but the setup needs to be perfect for them to work correctly.

There is a video on youtube explaining how to set one up as you have to press the button in the correct order to set the limts ect.

              I have a 2100t and 3100 on my 250 too..

I have the ball at 7mm ish as the manual says and i get no wag on mine.. It does need to be set-up in rate well to work best, even tho I have some drift in rate :O

Well this one just doesn't work properly at all

                Think it's a bin job

If I try to set it up in Rate it will drift either direction never just one way. I've just tried again using the kitchen floor so it slides easily and I cannot get it to a point of very slight drift in one direction. Just seems indiscriminate. As I said I have the gain on the Tx at 150% and the gyro lights change and all light up so it's getting the info from the Tx.

There is a bit of slop in the linkage etc. but on those settings the tail should wag like a demented puppy!!!

I think I have read somewhere that there is a way of reset/recalibration on the unit.. Can't remember how you do it, or where I saw it though..

Seems that there is definately something wrong there. Don't think it should be 150%..and not be wagging..

                    2100 re-calibration..

To use the self-calibration function you have to have your TX (transmitter) turned ON as normal, just like for flight, heading hold, throttle hold on (if you have it) if not you can disconnect the motor if you would like to make sure the heli doesn't spin up..

Just place the TX on the workbench/table somewhere, you do not need it once it's on, make sure you do not move the sticks on it while it's calibrating.

The trick is to hold down the gyro button while powering the heli up, you can get someone else to hold it if it's hard. Give it a few seconds holding it down and then release the button.

BE VERY CAREFUL not to touch the heli or whatever surface it is resting on, this is very important. It does take a few minutes.

You will see all of the LED's flash in sequence while it's in progress. When the calibration process gets towards the end the LED's will flash in sequence faster.

When the gyro calibration is done all LED's will continue flash at the same time. Just turn the helicopter off now, don't worry about moving the heli now.

That's it done! It will not touch anything else in your setup.

Dude the 2100 hold pefectly ..
As said it need CAREFULL settup but hold just as well as a 401 ...
I flown it on my Zoom 450 for a while last year and they work flawless ..
The HOLD is stronger then a 401 really NAILED but the 401 is smoother.

Done the reset thing but no better. Still drifts all over the show no wag on 150% Don't get it on the ground all appears OK and the gyro self tests ok as well.

Is the gear channel on the receiver working?

Does changing the gain make any difference?

How does it fly in rate mode?

Gear channel is fine as I said. When I up the gear channel ATV's the lights on the gyro increase it just doesn't appear to actually do anything to the gain at all though

I don't suppose it's a Spektrum binding issue or something is it??

Rate mode is the same, tail sort of holds in hover but is not really locked and at 150% on the ATV's should be wagging like mad.

Pulled it all off today just to try a different servo as a matter of elimination.

Had it off the heli on the bench and the gyro just seems completely over sensitive to others I've played with on the bench. Constantly moving the servo slightly even though the gyro was as still as possible and it just looked as though it wasn't moving the servo quite how I would expect it to.

Tried the new but different servo and that was exactly the same.

On top of this the Logitech servo was getting awfully hot just fiddling on the bench which doesn't seem right either and yes it was setup for that servo

Who distributes these gyros? I'm tempted to send it back even though it was 2nd hand as it now looks like I'm going to have to buy a replacement of some sort
