  • HS-65MG Servos

I have been reading about these servos and they seem to be a very good upgrade. The only thing I am concerned about, is what happens to them in a crash?

With plastic gears, the teeth break and they are £3 to replace. With metal gears, are they indesctructable, or do they break everythin else apart from the metal gears?

Usualy something else, there has to be some week points in the chain to allow the eneergy of teh crash to be disapaited. So it could be more of a bend in teh main shaft, more broken bearings or something else instead.

Is there anything in the servo, other than the gears left to break? As tbh I would rather replace a £4 main shaft than the £20 servo

      Cheers

i use the inolab servos which are metal geared and i believe similar to the hitec possibly better.

i have had huge crashes, hit the ground inverted, 50ft drop on to concrete, nose first into the ground at high speed.......

        The servos have never broken.

I've got a set of 3 65mg's which started life in a 450SE and many crashes later got swapped over to a Beam E4. Since then they've had at least another 4 crashes and they are still in good working order, gears fine and no repairs. It has to bee quite an extraordinary crash to damage a 65mg.

This is the result of the only time I've managed to break any 65mg's..

Even then I think the gears survived!

Good effort, chugga: makes today's pile-in from me look like a weak effort (more on that later!)

Just bought some from Elite models. May fit them tonight, if the other half doesn't keep trying to drag me somewhere
