  • S9257 Doesn't Centre...

I had replaced the gears in a stripped S9257 and regreaesed, removing all broken bits of plastic.

The servo works but does not centre, it will move in both directions a tiny ammount.

Is the servo gone or could I have made a mistake when putting the new gears in?

Did you remember to replace the little plastic bit that sits under the output gear?

Just realised, I'm thinking of the 9650.. Don't know if the 9257 is the same.

I didn't acctually get one in my spare gears kit ( I think I got them from HK ) and it was broken in half.

So I asume that is what is causing the problem.. oops.

Just looking on Fast-Lads and the plastic set doesn't come with that part, but the new MG sets they have appears to come with it.

Bah just bought the MG gearset... hopefully that will cure the problem as it comes with a new plastic/nylon bit that is broken in half in the current one.

When you say the servo doesn't centre, do you mean never, or just when it's connected to the gyro?

It's just that my S9254, when connected to the gyro in HH mode, doesn't centre unless I waggle the rudder back and forth three times within a second or so. It's normal and is part of the HH system.

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

At first I tried it connected to the gyro then I put it straight in the the RX and it still did the same as when it was connected to the gyro.

The nylon/plastic bit mentioned under the bigger gear which connects to the brass part was broken in half so I'm hoping that once I replace this with the new one and MG gearset I won't have a problem.

Sounds like the missing / broken part is the bit that connects the servos drive train to the potentiometer. That's why it will not centre.

It looks like it is, I have replaced gears in 9257s before and never had a problem but majority of the time the output gear was fine so I didn't replace and never noticed the part that connects to the potentiometer.

On examination I can see why it would cause a problem, it flexs so the pot doesn't quite know when it is at centre position.

Just to confirm that the problem has now been resolved.

The MG set came with a spare bit that goes on the main output gear and connects to the potentiometer... and guess what I just found in my cupboard/cave of heli and gadgets...

Another S9257 with stripped gears. Must be another, I recall these all coming from one of my T500s which I crashed then replaced all servos with JR DS3405MGs.

                      Thanks.

It's on my 250 now and wow what an improvment it has made.

I have so many bits in my cupboard that I have just left and replaced with new, I need to dig them all out and fix them ha.
