  • Logictech 2100 drift problem

I just purchased a Logictech 2100 for my Blade 400. Having followed the instructions to the letter ( zero trim/sub trim, travel adjust set to 125 in both directions) the gyro will drift in HH mode anticlockwise. I set it up mechanically in Rate mode to give zero drift in the hover but as soon as I switch to HH it starts rotating. The strange bit is that in HH mode as I spool up the tail slider remains in the centre its only when the head speed approaches flight speed then the slider starts to move across. Im scratching my head a bit here anyone got any ideas?

I have found the 2100T to be insanely sensitive to vibration. Virtually all the issues I've had with it have been vibration related.

On some copies the pcb isn't held very well in the case, and a bit of foam inside can stop it vibrating.

On the Belt CP I had to resort to using the CSM gyro mounting system with the metal plate (yes, on an electric ) to get it to work reliably.

There is also a recalibration mode that some people have suggested helps make it work more reliably; see the wiki for pointers.

I have already tried the recalibration which made no difference unfortunatly. I am a bit reluctant to open up a brand new gyro so I may have to see about getting it replaced.
In flight I can alter the trim to get it to stop drifting but this is not ideal as the tail slider moves to hard over on shut down and on start up.

Yep, that's exactly what I had at one point. For me it was vibration from a dodgy tail rotor hub. I understand your reluctance to open up the gyro; as I said, I ended up using the heavy duty CSM gyro mount kit, even on the Belt CP whose main shafts were never completely straight. I'm not saying it's the best solution---but it worked for me!

I have mine mounted on foam tape on my T500. Maybe i should get some thicker foam tape.....

I may also try opening it up as I bought it second hand anyway..

Doesn't strike me as being very good that a heli gyro suffers from vibration..

Looks like you were right about the gyro picking up vibration. I lifted the gyro off and wound up the rotor. Guess what , no creep.
I have now refitted it with an extra layer of mounting foam and its steady as a rock. Cheers Buddy.

              Glad you got it sorted.

It's a pretty good gyro, but it can be a right pain in the arse if your heli's not completely vibration free.
