If I purchased an after market multi blade head for my 450, would I need to go flybarless?

Might be worth looking at
Although the multi heads are for 3mm shafts, I'm not sure but think the 450 is 5mm, but could be wrong.Trex 450x CDE

Having tried this, the biggest recommendation i can make is to ensure you have the collar that goes from the swash to the main shaft in exactly the right spot. A couple of mm either way will cause you no end of problems. its called percession. With my 5 blade head on a 450 this was done by moving the collar until the blade parallel to the boom did not move when cyclic was applied. Even when set, it was a real handful to fly!
You have to get the headspeed right too. Cant remember which way, but i think if you have a lot of head speed it makes it easer to hover, however you will loose tail authority... and that can really catch you out as it did me.
If you are really serious about getting this to fly well, then look at some of the already mentioned flybarless systems already on the market. It will effectively put gyro stability on the aileron and elevator for you and make it much easier to fly.
