  • jr g770t or spartan 760?

which gyro would be the better buy. Vibe 50 is the heli i'm building and i know the spartan are doing the sport with the free upgrade, also looking at the jr 8900g servo is this choice suitable for both or is there something else you guys would recommend,

Haven't tried the JR myself but you wont go wrong with the Spartan. If you go with the sport version its cheaper too.
Also has a smaller package making it easy to fit to any heli.
The tail servo is also great as is the Futaba BLS251.

      Hi

I have five JR770T gyros and JR8900G servos. I am really pleased with them. Very easy to set up and work flawlessly.

I have a nearly new JR770T/8900G for sale if you interested
      Cheers Russ

I have the JR 770 3D/T on both my T-Rex 500 & 600 with the DS8900G tail servo... Holds well but some report problems because they have incorrectly set it up...

Things to consider when choosing a Gyro.

          Small/light/compact/supports different framerate servos/upgradeable firmware/adjustable settings/support/works well.

              Ash, I reckon that's a valid reason...that leaves 3 choices

i commented on this very thing yesterday. the 770 is a 401 replacement and imo shouldn't be put in same bracket as the current top of the line because of the lack of features (not saying bad gyro, saying lack of options). i've flown a couple of 770's and a not bad gyro at all but not the best available.

the only gyros i would personally consider are the 760, 720 and solid G. out of the 3 of them i would get.........the telebee....lol

if you haven't bought the servo i would urge you to get the bls251 over the 8900 for reliability (all my 8900's are slowly going, 2 failed now and counting.

                  cheers

Thats a bit of an eye opener as i thought the 770 was considered one of the top, along with the servo,

Anyone else had probs with the 8900,

Haven't bought anything yet (although considering offer made earlier)as i want to buy the best i can afford without the usual impulse buy i normally do.

a 770/8900 will serve you well if you get a deal on one but just wanted to make you aware it's not the best available and tbh the price difference is not a lot...if any these days with jr prices.

just remember you can NOT run a bls251 with the 770.

                        cheers

I am using my knight to learn on and to be honest it would be a long time before i was at the stage where i would need to worry about programming and alike,
i just want the Vibe to be the best i can afford but a reasonable spec to take me further,if that makes sense.

this is the common mistake i see in this hobby, and i guess every hobby. people put down their capabilities and think they will not notice the difference. i can guarantee you will. i remember saying the same thing but you only realise you were wrong in hindsight. i thought the 401 was great until i put a 601 on. i was on training aid at the time but WHAT a difference. the confidence it gives is worth 10x the price of the gyro.

money well spent is never money wasted so buy the best now, especially as the price will be about the same given the recent currency issues.

                            cheers

I've flown both these gyros with JR servos (and a Solid G) and for what it's worth - the JR 770 is very capable, fast and accurate, but is a little 'left-of-centre' in the way in which you set it up on your tx and the way it feels. The Spartan just as capable, offers more servo options and is more 'run-of-the-mill' to set up.

There are two schools of thought it seems with gyro manufacturers. Some of them (JR, CY - I know they're the same) are mental out of the box, are aimed squarely at the 3D market and usually have to be turned down to make them fly nice. The others (Futaba, Spartan, CSM etc) are reasonably subdued out of the box, and can be turned up to suit whatever flying characteristics you desire.

For me, I prefer to start low, and work up, that way it's not going to bite me without warning.

I've got 2 Spartans, a 611 and a 401 in my current helis at the moment, and I have to say, my current preference is for the 760.
