  • Digital Servo with continuous rotation

    Hello,
I'm looking to modify or just buy a digital servo medal gear that can rotate continuously. I have a camera mount with belts and gears. The servo need to rotate about 9-12 times to move the camera back and forth. I'm not to knowledgeable about servos. Can anyone help me out?

i have heard of people replacing the pots with multi turn pots for sail winches on rc yachts.

however i have also seen talk that it is better to move the pot from inside the servo to the final shaft of your mechanism as this reduces the issues of backlash in the system.

Is this the kind of thing you're after - it's taken from a Futaba product catalogue. I'm not sure if it's digital or not, but at that kind of strength, I'm sure it would manage your needs.

As Ade mentioned - it's a yacht winch servo, so has the added bonus of being water proof!

I'm not quite sure how to interoperate the figures, If it's 0.6 seconds per revolution then that's quite fast, so is unlikely. If it's 0.6 secs per radian then that's 3.7 seconds to go through an entire 360 deg, so that's pretty slow. If it's 0.6 seconds per 60 deg then that's almost the same as the previous idea since 1 radian = 57.3 deg (I think).

Not sure if it would have suitable vibration resistance for use on a heli/plane.

I called futaba and they said it wouldn't work. I guess I have to find someone that has modified one to rotate.

what about a small motor ? rather than a servo ?

          such as

          http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/...pner_1753.html

          it has metal gears

Can you direct me to the website site for heli comics? I did a search and can't find it.

                Hello,
I need to buy a servo with high torque and speed to be able to rotated continuously but still have a potentiometer so it doesn't drift off. I talked to a guy that stated he saw some servo's with the potentiometer mounted on the ouside of the servo. I have a camera mount with belts and gear with futaba gy401 gyros and SX3130 servos. The servo's were modified to rotate with no limits. The problem I think I'm having is how they were modified. They tend to drift after some continuous movement. The gyros are doing their job but I think I need different servo. I would love to get a digital servo but I haven't found one on the market. I really need some help. Thanks
