  • Installed GY401 and I now get intermittent power cut

Twister 3D with stock brushless motor, GWS 8 channel reciever

Hi For some reason my helicopter has started randomly twitching, the power cuts for a split second thens carries on as normal.
Then it may go for a few minutes before another quick cut of power.
Its just enough to swing the tail round a small amount, but scarey at the same time.
Is it to do with the Gyro ? :?

it could be that the gyro is driving the tail servo more often (making it hold better) which puts a greater load on the speed controllers BEC.

Ahh OK , So turning down the sensitivity should stop that happening.
or does the delay pot help that, which is best?

      Thanks for the quick reply,
your worth your wait in gold to us newbies.

that wont help and will give you a soft soggy tail, which would defeat the object of fitting a 401 in the first place!

it could also be down to that cheap RX. try one of the clever PPM rxs such as the Schulze alpha.

It's probaly that GWS Glitchmaster Rx doing it.

The Schulze whits good are not the be all and end all like they used to be. I run Schulzes in all my small stuff but it glitches like mad in my Wing (does for everyone else on that plane as well) and I had to wrap the Rx on my Hornet in silver foil to stop the 20 odd hits it was getting per flight.

There is some new Bee's knee's Jeti Rx out but im not sure if they do one up to 8 channel.

sao... I have used the schulze alpha 8 in everything from shockies, through combat wings (electric and slope) moulded gliders, raptor 50 and even a raptor 90.

had the odd "lockout" moments on the 50/90 helis but nothing major.

              UPDATE

Turned out to be one of my 2mm Gold connecters to the motor was a wee bit lose and was spinning round making a bad contact.
              Thanks for your help Guys
Glad it didnt cost me a new Reciever

I agree they are great receivers but in small electrics (I know you don't like 'em ) they can still be a pain. The one in the wing (its a Gryphon btw) glitches like no tomorrow, Brand new never crashed, The same problem is experainced by nearly everyone using a Schulze in that wing, it is an odd problem as in other planes with the same motor and Esc they work fine! :?

Given the option of a JR /Futtie PCM and a Schulze I'd go for PCM everytime now, a year ago I would have been singing the praises of the Schulze but recent glitching has put me off somewhat.

Funny you should say that, I had a similar issue on my first Pic Pro set up, I gave up with motor connectors after that and went to direct soldering them

could it be to do with rx location/aerial routing?

                      Its me again
Well after re-soldering 2mm Connectors, Everything seemed ok. BUT!
It nows hovers for nearly a complete battery, untill it gets to a certain voltage, or so it seems. I then get a power cut for a split second only to the motor, everything else working. it then carries on ok but as the voltage drops the cuts become more frequent. Have I got a faulty ESC maybe? instead of reducing power as set on ESC is it malfunctioning and cutting power.
                      Your thoughts please.

                      Twisted Twister :-)
