    1 Who's using them ?

2 How have you set it up on the dx7/dx7se ?

I dont need to use mine at the mo as i'm still learning but this is the final part that i have not setup yet on my 600nsp

Most people i have spoken with say use endpoints ? (unsure how to do that) have read here and there to use prog mixes ....

    I am so confused !!!!!!!

Should i just set the throttle curves for the mo ie norm 80%, idle 1 90%, idle 2 100% or something like that.......

I have the Align on my 700 and Revlocks on my 600's. The Align is much easier to install and set up but not really flown it that much yet. Seems to be very good though and TBH better than my thumbs can manage! Just follow the quick set up guide that came with it (using end points for setting desired head speed) making sure you have a 'v' shaped throttle curve programmed in idle up 1 and 2 and linear in normal mode. Thats it. Really easy once you get into it.

If my undrestanding is right if using endpoints the gov will either be on or off (isnt there only 1 set of endpoints ?) so if u set it up for norm then it wont work on idle 1/2

I use the Align gov on my 600 and 700.

The gov gain is plugged into my gear channel and I use a mix between gear>gear on the flight mode switch.

use the fsn and fs12 as the switch on the mix. the last stage of the mix (idle2) adds to the idle1 value.

here is an approximation of the values on a 600:

fsn 70% gives around 1900 rpm (set in normal) prog mix 1
          fs12 90% gives around 2050 rpm (set in idle1) prog mix 2
          fs12 10% gives around 2170 rpm (set in idle2) prog mix 3

the reason for the 10% in the last mix is because in flight mode 2 the idle1 value is kept and the mix for that flight mode ie 10% is added. ()

Shout out if you need more help,

          Tom

          EDIT

Forgot something. I set the Gear channel to INH in the system menu so that I can still use the gear switch to turn the gov on or off.

I am using the Align Gov on my TREX 600 NSP with my JR PCM9XII and so far I am very impressed with it. I have it plugged into the gear channel and using the Gov menu on the radio. I have norm mode set to 0% ie gov off and then 69% in FM1 gives me about 1700 headspeed and FM2 85% for about 2000.

hi try this it works well like this

Anyway, the governor is very good and I would give it another chance by following this configuration.

              1. Install the governor per the manual. I'm using a DX7/AR7000 and the yellow sign wire is connected to AUX.

              2. Set ATV for AUX2 to +100%/-100%

              3. Set throttle curve to linear - 0-INH-50-INH-100

              4. With the throttle stick on its lowest position, turn ON the radio.

              5. Turn ON receiver and wait for the governor light to turn Green. When it's green, press the SET button on the governor for about 3 seconds until the GOV light starts to blink. Release the SET button then move the throttle stick to its highest position. The GOV light will turn OFF for a second then turn solid GREEN.

At this point, calibration is done. Verify that GOV is sensing the magnet by manually rotating the starter shaft with a 6MM allen wrence or just use your starter shaft. The lights on the GOV should turn OFF when one of the 2 magnets is directly under the sensor. (NOTE: only one of the two magnets should make the GOV light OFF. If you have both of the magnets turn OFF the GOV light, the magnets are installed incorrectly.)

              PROGRAMMING THE DX7
              1. Go to the master menu. (Press down+select and power ON)

              2. Scroll to Input Selct menu and set AUX2 to INH

              3. Turn OFF and the turn ON the radio again.

              4. Go to the programming menu. (Press down+select)

              5. Scroll to PROG.MIX1 menu. We are going to setup here the desired headspeed for Normal mode. Set it to make it look like this:

AUX2> AUX2 ON -- if this says OFF, your flight mode switch is not in normal
              RATE: +80% --- for 1882 rpm headspeed
              0%

              SW: F-NR
              OFFSET: 0

You set your RATE % based on the headspeed you want for normal mode. Refer to the table chart that came with the GOV.

              6. Scoll to PROG.MIX2 menu. We are going to setup here the desired headspeed for IDLE1 mode. Set it to make it look like this:

AUX2>AUX2 ON -- if this says OFF, your flight mode switch is not in IDLE1
              Rate +90% -- for 2024 rpm headspeed
              0%
              SW:F-S12
              OFFSET: 0

Again, you set your RATE% based on the headspeed you want for IDLE1.

              7. Scroll to PROG.MIX3 menu. We are going to setup here the desired headspeed for IDLE2 mode. Set it to make it look like this:

AUX2>AUX2 ON -- if this says OFF, your flight mode switch is not in IDLE2
              RATE: +10% -- NOT 100% for 2171 rpm headspeed
              0%
              SW:F-S2
              OFFSET: 0

NOTE: IDLE2 uses the base number from IDLE1 and add it's own value to it. So 90% (from IDLE1) + 10% = 100%

              8. Exit programming menu and verify that when you flick the AUX2 switch on your radio, you can turn ON (green) or turn OFF (red) the governor. Take note which way your switch turns the GOV ON/OFF. If necessary, you can reverse AUX2 from the reversing sw. on the radio.

Thats it and go have some fun.

Not sure how pictures will help you program your DX7 for the Gov. Just follow the steps above for setting up your Gov.

I managed to get two head speeds without using a prog mix and got them working off the flight mode switch.
On the gear channel I set it to operate off the flight mode switch.
In norm you get one channel endpoint, idle1 you get the mid point, and idle 2 the other end point. Then you need to push the channel positions over so that one end point is a neutral, the centre point is offset for the lower head speed and the top point is set for the max head speed. This I did by comparing the gear channel to another channel on the channel output speed and then checking the actual head speed with a tacho.
I set the gear channel sub trim to a maximum. Now the mid point gives me about 1700 rpm on the head.
Then I set the first end point (from the normal flight mode) so the channel output ends up in the middle (it only has to be near enough to switch the governor off which you check on the LED).
Then I set the idle 2 end point to get 2100 rpm on the head for 3D.

I'll post the actual numbers tonight if I remember.

This lets me use the three prog mixes to get cyclic throttle mix (using two) and rudder gov mix for contant head speed in piro manoevres. So far I only got round to settign up the cyclic throttle mix and will see if it makes a difference next time out.

In the end I find that I fly 90% in idel up 2 anyway, only when I feel boring enough to practise B manoevres do I switch to idleup1.

                          My DX7 settings (AR7000)
Governor speed is on ch 7 (aux2)

                          Travel adjust aux 2
                          +80%
                          -27%

                          sub trim aux 2
                          -125

ch7 is reversed (black blob upwards)

Input select (accessed via the switch on and hold buttons down)
                          Aux2 = f. mod

Check this on the channel output screen.
in norm aux 2 is in the middle
idle up 1 and it is moves right, ends up a bit short of the 100% line (scale goes to about 130%?)
idle up 2 puts it close to the 100% line.

I think my idle up 2 head speed is about 2150 rpm (600n) and in idle up 1 is as low as its happy without wobbling (K&B yellow dampers).

note that if you want to increase the head speed in idle up2 then just increase the +80%, however setting idle 2 which is currently on maximum (sub trim -125) then this will move idle 2 the same amount and you will need to correct it again.
If you do change the sub trim setting make sure you check the gov is off in norm, if not then you need to adjust the other end point (-27%) so the output is closer to the middle.

I set my knight and revlock 20 with the channel the other way and the revlock needs quite differeent numbers to the align.
                          travel
                          +29
                          -65
                          sub trim
                          -49

With the revlock 20 you end up using two speeds in the same range which works OK for the hyper and the knight gearing but you cannot fiddle with the revlock internal settings independantly for the two speeds via the pc. Mine runs fine in idleup2 but tends to hunt in idle1, though the particular motor runs very rich at low throttle and isn't happy going slow.

There you go, far too much info as usual!
