  • Too 401 or to not 401

I had the opportunity to purchase a 600n for a very good price recently and jumped at it. OS 50 not hyper, MP5, 3050's and so on, also a 9254 but no gyro, I know that the 401 is the usual pair that works together, but is it worth the extra few quid for the spartan. only just getting to grips with heli's at the mo. but we will have a mortgage soon so its gona have to be buy once buy right. If it makes any difference i am learning with a shuttle and rate gyro, sanwa tx with dx7 on the way.

You pays your money and takes your choice, the 401 will be fine for a while (unless you learn with exceptional speed), I guess it depends on what you ultimately aim to achieve.

          Go for the spartan.
Theres not that much in it price wise but the spartan is much better once you advance to backwards flight.

I think very few folks will outgrow a 401 within a year. They are also popular used so yuo will still get +£60 used after a year anyway.
Many folks do not set up the 401 for absolute maximum performance and then it will let go sooner sideways and backwards because the maximum pitch travel is not available both ways.

However the 401 new is now overpriced and you can get a CSM720 for the same money. Nobody is going to outgrow a CSM720 for a long while - Duncan Osborne, Trev Burley haven't.
            Looking at a well know UK internet shop CSM720 is £109, GY401 £105, ds760 £122
If a fellow club member has a CSM lead, or a spartan link lead yuo can use round their house than that could make the decision which to buy.
Only the CSM720 was showing in stock

Didn't troubledpetey just offer you a selection of very cheap 401 gyros?

It's also a question of wether the gyro will survive until you can appreciate it.

worth taking a look at the align gp750 - costs around £90-£100

can be used on most 3d helis.

                    Sounds good Chris,
Would you mind telling us what you paid for it and where from?
Hope to see you down the field sometime soon.

It will be Mr Models but he wanted silly money for it as priced.

Dont see the point in a 401 anymore at its rrp,the Align RCE 600 is under 50 quid new and is rumoured from many to be far better.

If anybody seriously considers paying over 100 quid for a new 401 do yourself a favour and get a 720 or a Spartan for the little extra.

Yes Mr models. The reason I went for the 401 was that a) looking on the signature's here lots of people use 401's. b) Im all for suporting local buisinesses more so at the mo and c)i was there and they had 1.
