  • CSM Revlock 10 hunting RPM

Trying to run revlock 10 on OS hyper Raptor 50 but despite many efforts it continually hunts for the RPM. I've tried tweaking the mixture in case its too rich and isn't giving a quick enough throttle response. I'm using a JR DS811 servo, could it be too slow?

servo should be ok... what fuel and exhaust are you running?

Have you tried lowering the adjust screw on the revlock to just below 12 o'clock,
did that with mine which seemed to help a bit,
found the os 50 hyper has to be tuned well for it to work with the revlock and you have to have a good thr curve.
Might be worth getting a spare sensor and try that,
Will say I did'nt have much luck with my revlock got fed up with having to alter the mix to suit weather conditions so changed it back to a GV-1 at the week end,
set the three head speeds up and away it went no problem at all, held the rev's and no hunting at all,

you may have more luck with a different pipe the mp2 is alot more difficult to tune than most the mp5's a little better, 1.5 turns out on your main needle is a good start but depends on your HS? you may need to turn the gain down on the unit itself also
          cheers Lee

Fuel and pipe should'nt make any diff imo
if the engine's tuned ok. the revlock should work well,,
I found it did'nt I must have a duff one!

I believe this is a common problem with the Revlock 10.

First disable the governor and try and get the motor running perfectly. Running rich is a basic problem. Also check on the CSM website if you don't have the instructions for the best way to set the throttle linkage.

Try turning the sesitivity screw fully anti-clockwise.

I think you can send it to CSM who will upgrade the software to Revlock 20 level which corrects the hunting problem.

I agree but it does because the mp2 held the torque so well i.e semi governing and the revlock being so active they tend to get upset with each other especially if the mixture isn't spot on.
If you use a lazy governor TJ or GV1 the mixtures not so critical but they don't hold rpm like a revlock

Do you know how much they charge if they are able to update the software Andy?

That could have been the problem with my 10
its about 18 months old and I did try all the above but was never really happy with it,
obviously a problem with it from new if they've cured the problem with a software up grade,

                    Long live the ol GV-1

This may be a case of 'read the instructions'. Does the manual rpm adjusting screw become a gain adjusting screw when using remote RPM adjustment? If so that may be the starting point!

in short yes... if you have it in remote mode

I had issues running a RL10 with a Hyper motor, very similar to yours. I bought and fitted a RL20 and never looked back, it's much more forgiving and I've found using a Carbsmart as well helps keep it locked-in.

I fitted the Align governor to my 700, mainly because it was in the box and easy to fit! It actually works quite well, there's a bit of a tendency to overspeed in fast decents but nothing too bad, it's quite a bit more forgiving than the Revlock governors, good enough for the way I fly but not as locked-in as the RL20.

My RL20 hunted when I first fitted it. I turned the gain screw 3/4 of the way clockwise and that solved it.

I've just read the instructions, what a donut!!!!! Well before I say any more I'll try adjusting the sensitivity screw - for people like me they should write 'sensitivity screw' next to it!!!!!

Thanks for your inputs, I'll be back
