Any one should do, so long as its fast enough and as enough torque. What gyro are you using? It might be worth getting a decent gyro/servo combo for your heli. Have heard the new Align gyro/servo combo is pretty good. Only cost about £70 too
Trex 500ESP - Scorpion motor, CC ice 75 esc. Spartan Quark gyro, Std Align servos
    Knight Sport - Spartan/BLS251, Hyper 50, 3050's on cyclic, 3D mixer arms
Outrage Fusion 50 - Viper 700kv, 14t, Align servos, Spartan, 8s, Hobbywing 100HV. Maidened - Love it, set up to fly really smooth :-)
Gootch 450SEv2 built and flown, very nice heli :-)

I have a Falcon 3D (the art-tech equivalent to the mini pred) and there were plenty of posts on other fora about swapping the tail servo out for a faster (and probably more reliable) hitec hs-55 - it worked fine first time, and you can buy these servos for less than a tenner pretty well anywhere.

Just watch how you set the servo arm (in terms of how far out from the centre the ball link is) when you put it back together

      Hope that helps

I used to run a 9257 on the tail of my mini pred with the standard gyro ... Never had n e probs with it once it was set up right ... Align gyro combo might be the way to go as the 9257 is about £50 ...

I note you didn't leave it on when you sold it me!

In answer to the original question, yes, a standard 9g servo will do as that was all that was there to start with.
