get a regulator with an adjustable output. I use the ElyQ regulator and it passes the lipo voltage straight to the ccpm servos but runs the RX at a constant 5.1v for the rest of the servos. I can adjust the voltage going to the ccpm servos though so could run them at 6 v or 5v if i wanted.

I'm running them on 6v ( 8717 ) and their just outstanding, far beyond my limits
IMHO if you need the 'extra' performance of 8v you'll either just after some bling or a 'seriously' good pilot.
Great servo though, well rec' for the higher demands of flybarless

Just out of interest-are there any true 8v servo's on the market- most I've seen are 4.8-6.0v handling ,, does this mean the 6v upper limit is what you should stick to, or can as most seem to do easily handle the extra voltage:
example being the lipo supplied with the Align BT6 2-1 reg, 7.4 1900mah-
fully charged the voltage is around 8.2 - got a AR7100R and only 4 ports are regulated to 5.2- the rest is at pack voltage,,,, is there a risk of me burning out the remaining servo's
