  • DS285 as Tail Servo

    I've got 3 JR DS285s that came with a DX7, and I also have a need for a digital tail servo on a GAUI H200 to replace a 306BB.

From what I gather, a DS285 wouldn't be the first choice as a tail servo, but in its favour, I have them, and it's light (8.5g vs 6.6g for the 306BB), which seems important, as the H200 is naturally tail heavy IME.

So, does the panel think this is worth a try ?
    Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...

I gather speed is all important for a tail servo.... Will it be quick enough?

PS I can't find the ds285 in the JR catalogue, but their slowest tail servo is like 0.09s / 60 degress!!!!!! Bare in mind this is JR gear though (expensive so far as I'm concerned...)
DS380G or DS820G might be better, or a Futaba tail servo....

I'd guess it's faster than the existing 306BB.

The problem with the DS820G is that it's 44g compared to 8.5g for the DS285. Mind you, the DS380G is 9g.
