  • problems with JR gyros

Has anyone experienced problems with JR770 gyro or a solid G gyro working ok for about 7 or 8 mis during a flight then suddenly it wont turn one direction IE against the blade rotation.
We have had both a 770 and a solid G gyro do the same in two different helis at our club.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

No, we've got a couple of 770's in our club, mine on a Trex 600 and both are working fine. There have been reports on a certain other forum that the circuit boards on 770's can come loose in the metal case causing some interesting symptoms, might be worth taking the top off to check. A little hot-melt glue or similar is a fix if it actually is loose.

      I can't believe I'm reading this.

One of my club mates has had no end of troubles with two JR 770 gyros (with JR8900 servos) that refuse to turn left after about 10 minutes of flight.

Sounds like the same symptoms to me.

On a scale of 0 to 3D, about 1.53 and counting (backwards at the moment...). Getting there though, 0.1D at a time!

            an answer to the problems

Think we may be getting near an answer.
After 2 helicopter with differnt gear and three gyros inc a gy611 and one lock out causing a dead sceadu.
all doing the same thing after varying length of time we have come to the conclusion its the dsx9 transmitter at fault.
Its been sent back to magregor and we await a reply.

              Hello mate,

I've just noticed something very similar to what your seeing but with my heli on a bench with my JR 770 gyro, here are the steps I did that caused the problem!

              1. Gyro in heading hold mode...
              2. Input full left rudder on stick...
              3. Flick gyro switch to go from HH to Rate mode.... (full left rudder still applied)
              4. Flick gyro switch again to go from rate mode back to HH mode... (full left rudder still applied)
              5. Center rudder stick...
              6. Tail rotor goes full over the opposite direction and stays there...

Only if I input full left again does it return to full left on the tail rotor! It's almost like the gyro learns your centre stick position with this quick flick from hh-rate-hh....

If I now center the rudder stick and do the hh-rate-hh flick everything returns to normal!

Could the person be flicking into rate mode mid piro and back out again or something crazy like that?

              OR....

When the problem occurs how about leaving the rudder at center stick and flicking quickly from hh-rate-hh to see if full control returns????

Let me know what you find, because when I spotted this odd-ity on teh "bench" I though.... "Oooh that could cause problems in the air if that occured!!!!!"

              Cheers
              Rob

Problem of gyros was eventually traced to faulty DSX9 transmitter.it was swapped for a new one by INWOOD models.
New one had first attempted flight today and to our amazement there is a fault on it.
Press bottom left button and transmitter resets back to model one and stops transmitting.
The owner has now lost all faith in JR transmitters .

POOR SHOW FOR JR ON THIS ONE
