  • Can i put a 401 in HH mode permanantly?

As above, is there any way to turn the HH mode on without the signal wire connected to the RX? Maybe an external feed to the signal wire?

I want to free a channel up on the tx for use with Helicommand, but dont have pc software yet to setup the internal gyro.

    Thanks, tom

    Tom,

It would be very difficult, if not impossible to do! The GY401 uses a signal value set by the Tx to tell the gyro what the gain setting and if HH. This would be difficult to emulate because a varying signal voltage will give (undesirable) varying gain settings. The GY240 would make a good alternative, because it has a seperate gain pot and HH options without needing a 2nd Rx input!

i used to run a 601 gyro on my multplex 3030 transmitter but if i plugged in and used the gain on the tx the 601 would flick to normal mode and back about once per second!

i ended up using on of the throttle failsafes that the car guys use. dont plug it into the rx it goes to the FS position which is adjustable on the device you use this to supply the gyro with a gain value and after a little experimentation to get the gain right it worked perfectly.

          Ade, what powers the failsafe?

The failsafe device was designed for PPM RXs. This device is not required on PCM RXs as they have failsafe built in. The device is plugged in between the RX and the servo. When the RX looses signal there is no signal to the servo. The failsafe device detects this and starts to output a signal to the servo to put it to a known position. Therefore you still plug this in between the RX and servo to get power but remove the signal lead.

I wonder then if you could run that off a y-lead from the rudder channel with the signal wire removed to give power but nothing else.
