  • Hitec 5245 Problem?

    Hi All,

One of the Hitec 5245 servos in my Trex500 seems to have a problem... With no power connected, two of the servos will move very easily by hand, but the third servo will not move at all. I first noticed this when putting the blade caddy on, as I could not level the swash. When the servos are powered up, the servo in question moves fine

Anyone had this problem before? Just wondering if I am looking at an impending servo failure:O

    Cheers

its probably worth taking the case apart and checking for any broken teeth or dirt ingress. re-grease while your at it

Got one here now just the same Russ, Checked for a broken tooth but found nothing.

Works perfect when power connected to it but freezes up when turned off.

Not risking that in my heli mate..

Hmm, strange isn't it? - I'll take mine to bits and have a look, but I bet I won't find anything..

How stiff? - one of mine is so stiff I cannot move it without fear of something breaking

Mine is that stiff it won't move Russ, Choose how you try (other than breaking it) it just locks one way.

I've had similar servos but they've always worked fine under power...

Thanks Mate... I'll strip it down this evening and check it out. I think I have a spare case in stock. I'll let you know what I find

I stripped my suspect 5245 down last night, and as per the thread that Busterboy found, the inside of the case top was damaged, where the middle gear stack seats in the case. The plastic is very thin there, and had broken away letting the gear stack rock slightly..

Just refitting servo now, but I am sure the new case top will sort the problem

                      Thanks to all who replied
