  • S9650 Vs S9257

I went into the LHS yesterday to pruchase an s9257 and came away with an S9650 digital servo as I was told it is better than the S9257! Is this right? If not will it do just as good a job?
For £60 I sure hope so!!
It will be for my Mini T and gy401.

    Thanks
    Jamie

9650 is not as good as a 9257 its slower, and older (the 9257 predecessor)

i wouldnt say its better but again i wouldnt say its worse either. with a 401 on a mini heli such as a mini titan, trex etc it will work fantastically. The 9650 is also rated upto 6v, wheras the 9257 is only rated to 4.8v. The common mod on these is to fit 9257 gears to a 9650 and run it at 6v (where applicable) im using my own home brewed voltage reg on my 500 and running 8v cyclics and 7v tail with the 9650 mod and it holds like youve never seen before. Personally id stick with it as with it being rated to a higher voltage it has the potential to outlast the 9257. and "WHEN" you crash and strip the gears just put the 9257 gears in and make it a 0.05 sec rocket

          cheers guys,
I am getting fed up with being given wrong advice from this particular shop, whom at this point shall remain nameless, but it seems as though they will feed you any Bulls*#t just to get rid of old stock.
I was sold a 35mhz radio set when I pruchased the MiniT as I did not know any better at the time just to be told by them later 2.4gig was better after suffering from glitch issues!
I was Given inferior servos for the cyclic and after several stripped gears was told the hs65 were better!
          And there are more examples.

          This servo is going back!!!

yes but people run the 9257 at 6v on the cyclics if I had teh choice 9257 if you havent the choice then make the most of what you do have

FunfreeX... i have a stock Mini Titan with a 401 and 9257, and also a SE mini titan with a 401 and 9650. Had first test flights of the stock mini titan tonight... will hopefully get to fly it properly tomorrow or the next day so ill let you know what i think. I'll fly them back to back and post my findings. On initial findings from the test flight id say they both seem to hold the tail exactly the same but the 9257 did make the tail feel a little snapier. Cant really tell properly off the 1 little test flight that i done but thats the way it seemed.
              Will let you know though

              Cheers

I've used both on std output from my ESC(Jazz) on my 450 V2

The 9257 is better by a fair margin but the 9650 does work. The 9650 is a bit more fussy for that "perfect" setup and tends to bounce a bit which can often be tuned out with a bit of delay(I've only used with a 401 nothing else).

I never got around to trying the gear swap mod so I can't comment on that but it appears to work.

Also bear in mind that the 9257 is a tail servo the 9650 was intended to be used as a buggy steering servo

I can tell you now though that the 9650 on the tail of my SE holds the tail brilliantly. Never had a problem with it and its fast enough for me. Thats with 120 rudder end points and the ball on the first hole of the futaba arm. Im no hardcore 3D'er but it held solid throughout loops/forward and backward flips/rolls/inverted hovering/stall turns etc

                    Cheers

                        Jamie.

If your LHS decides to throw a wobbly for whatever reason I have a spare 9257 here I will swap you if that's any good.

I use 9650's on the cyclic on my 500 so a spare would be handy.

                        Just trying to help mind.
