My GV-1 is set at 2100rpm in idle up. I checked the headspeed after a flight earlier and the max rpm screen read 2230! I know this governor is accurate to within 1% so something must be wrong. Heli is 600n with Hyper 50, MP5 and Magnum 30% fuel.

    Any ideas?

It's probably overspeeding on descents, I'm sure I saw highish figures on mine when I had one. It is oldish tech now.

nope its just a gv1... it uses a rolling average as part of the control, basically it holds the last 10 rpm readings in memory, averages those to give its RPM reading that it will then use to know what to do with the servo.

you could quite easily see the RPM you saw for a short time.

Thanks for the reply Ade, but I'm curious what this means? Is this gov old hat now as Smoothound suggests? I've found it a bit overkill but saying that it has lots of useful functions.

its been available since I started helis, it was the first gov and hasnt been improved as other govs come along.

the Rolling average and no DS servo support makes it slow to respond.

inconsistant headspeed makes the tail power variable too, imroved the tail hold greatly when i switched to the rev lock when it came out.

Ades right about it being old technology, and the new stuff out is a substantial improvement, however, I wouldnt suggest you bin it until it stops doing what you want it to do for the level / ability you are at.
If it is working for you at the moment, why not just leave it in there and spend the money on more fuel (or batteries )

No plans to bin it just yet! Works fine for my skill level for now.

your biggest problem is the sensors arent too reliable and are about 20ukp a pop. Doesnt take many sensors for it to cost more than a rev lock!

I know, they are expensive. Saying that, I've had it running for about 9 months with no probs. Its only since joining DMHC and this forum that I have really come to realise there are better govs for less money. Ho hum, when I outgrow it I'll flog it on. Until then its practice practice practice for me!!
