  • Servo Knackered ?

I have a Futaba S9251 servo on the tail of my Raptor with a Spartan DS760 Gyro. When setting up the gyro i can't get enough travel to adjust the tail.
I disconnected the servo from the tail and messed about with the ATV settings on the TX but still doesn't give me enough travel.
I checked the servo gears and that all looks fine, without switching on the servo it has a lot more travel when turning by hand.

Is there any other way of checking the servo other than plugging another in ?

    Cheers,

Have you not just got the servo arm too short so its not giving you the full pitch travel on the tail pitch slider? You will find that the servo will rotate more by hand when unplugged, thats normal. For every hole you go out on the servo arm you will get further travel.

    Cheers

The amount of servo travel is not controlled by the Tx. It is controlled by the gyro only. I'm not familiar with that gyro, but you should be able to set the actual physical travel on the unit, or by going through a set-up routine.

Lawser, sounds very like youve not completed set up correctly. Assuming you have selected the correct servo frame rate, and using a servo horn in the region of 13mm on a 600N you will be able to over travel the stops easily.

When you set the travels via the Gyro in setup mode..you move the rudder stick left/Right to set the max travel the GYRO is allowed to move the tail slider.

It sounds very like you have not done this bit correctly and toggled when the slider is at minimium travel.

Give Craig/Greig a shout I'm sure they will keep you right. It really is a piece of cake, very similiar set up to a CSM gyro if your familiar with them.

That's not as important as setting the correct servo pulse width.

Which is not very helpful as the guy stated he has a Raptor
but I can't help either with what the correct length should be.

            Ok guy's..........Sorted now.
Barney i had followed the set up pretty closely, what i hadn't thought of adjusting was the pushrod or ball link...Which now seems to have done the trick !
            Thanks for all your help,

            cheers,
