    I reckon designation surface or air is about getting maximum price for similar things in different markets. Generally the car stuff is overpriced compared to the air stuff. Car folks are generally buying one or two servos, not 3 or 6 so they milk them for more cash.
    I reckon it has absolutely nothing to do with the design of the component.

      moyesboy, macman once told me there is internal differences but he wasn't sure what either exactly. not sure if he found out anymore.
