  • Spartan flashing?

Further to my current electronic Knight problems

After my couple of flights with the Knight today, on landing both times the light on the gyro was flashing in Heading Lock even though there was no stick input. Can't find my destructions so can anyone shed any light on it? Never done it before and it seems to work OK but I guess its trying to tell me something?

On AVCS mode Stick at neutral
Short double blink AVCS mode Rudder input dectected
    Off Rate mode
Slow Repeating flash Error. Gtro not reciving valid signal from EX or unable to calibrate because the rudder stick is not centered

Above from the little red book...

i have seen this on 401s

when the stick is offcentre it will flash... when you first power up it will be solid, move the rudder stick around a little and let go it will start flashing.

basically its the stick double centring slightly. if you move the stick again it will go solid.

I had this or something similar on mine if you remember Ade, make sure your trims are definately central, in all modes inc TH.

If you have a computer interface for the spartan increase the deadband from 5 (default) to 10... That will leave a little more in the middle of the stick for error. if that cures it make it a bit narrower until the problem returns... It will show you how much error the control on the TX has when at rest.
The gyro remembers the center stick location when it initalizes and then when you have finished its flight the stick returns to rest in a silightly diferent place (just outside the dead band) and that is what i think is causing post fright flashing... Angelos could confirm this is the likley issue.

Could be worn stick pot or perhaps it is just the way the radio is. Some of the low end radios like a FF6 that I use for development work just don't center very well. If you increase the dead band a bit it will go away but keep an eye on it. If it comes back you will need to get your radio serviced.
