  • Mini Titan SE servos

Anyone used DS285 digitals. Are these brand new? I can only find them in UK supplied with a DX7 which I am also considering. Also thinking of CSM gyro and JR3500G tail servo.

I see from these forums alot of people use HS55 or HS65 however I have also read that these do not fit the Mini Titan SE where as the JRs are a perfect fit. As usual too many choices not enough knowledge yet.

This will be my first build, all flying so far is on RTF like eflites.

    Appreciate any advice.

extremely easy to fit the 65 mgs in the mini t. Very little work needed to do it. And there the only option in my opinion. Nothing much else will survive a descent crash.

Purchased 3 x hs 65mg's today, £18 each from local hobby store.

The chap told me, although they are mostly metal gears there is one small nylon gear on the end of the motor! Is this true? If so what is the point of putting metal gears in and leaving one nylon one, surely they're only as good as the weakest part?

wasnt aware of that but either way there still the strongest servos
for the job. Probably there so it actually does give way. If every gear was metal then the motor might break in a crash. Probably designed like that so it is the weak point in the system and gives way. Something like that id imagine anyways.

Good point. I bought them anyhoo cos they have got to be a s**t load better than the crappy 1016's I have been using.

              Cheers

Oh they are, youll see when ya fit em mate. When ya fit them to the mounts make sure ya take an even amount off both sides. Dont go mental on it. You only need to shave a small amount of each side. A tip... when you install the elevator servo at the rear of the swash. You will probably find the servo arm will foul the frame at low stick or full back elevator. Just put some sort of shim behind the servo were the screws mount it. It will move the servo off the mount a little and cause the servo arm to not foul the frame any more.

If ya look at the pic above you can see the shim i used between the servo and the servo mount with the mounting screw going through it.
                Cheers

Helpful picture thanks. Best to get a dx7 without those ds285 servos and fit hs65 instead. Seems a popular choice.

yeh defo, get hs65mgs fit and setup then forget as they will survive many crashes.
