611 for a Trex 500?

Would a 61 Gyro be an over kill for a 500? I thought about putting a Futaba 9650 with it.?

if you have a 611 spare then why not. if your going to use a different servo you MUST select it in the hidden menu or you will ruin the servo. (i assume it is the same to access as the 601 in this respect but you would need to double check that)

however if you need to buy the stuff then the 9650 and 611 would be quite a bit down the list of ideals imo. the 9257 is a better tail servo or use a full size one if you want.

I would use a full size servo over these smaller ones on the 500 for anything above sport flying.

Can that servo even be used with the 611?
I thought the frame rates were pretty specific to 9251, 9254 or 9256 servos?
Please correct me if wrong!

The 611 will work well, however, if you're buying a gyro for the heli I would go for the single unit options to save weight and mounting space, GY401 (I use one and it's fine), CSM 720, Spartan DS760 for example.

the next batch of gyros should be in shops within 2 weeks.

also i believe rossendale models have gyros in stock now fyi, worth a look.

rob, the 601 and i believe the 611 you CAN go into the hidden menu and change the servo types. i have done so on an old 601 but i have not tried on a 611. but it can be done on the 601 so i assume 611 aswell?

Hi Paul,
Is there a servo type option in there as well as frame rate options?
I hadn't spotted that, or at least, wasn't looking for it when changing frame rates
I've used 9254 servos with the 611, which should use the 9256 on a faster frame rate (hence had to change it to the slower one for the 9254)...

Interesting to note - I'll be digging into all of these hidden features soon enough to write all about them

2 options, cut the one on there as i have done or buy the 600e servo mount which is hard to come by just now i'm told.

i would use either the 9257 or bls251 with the spartan in this ap.

Try the 8700 servo...

where can I get a full size tail servo bracket ?

Buy the Trex600 tail boom servo mounting bracket and fit that plate onto the 500 brackets you already have.
