  • JR 8700G or Futaba S9254 for CSM 560 Gyro

    Hi,

I'm in the process of upgrading the gyro on a Raptor to a CSM SL560 micro.

Which is the best servo to use as I have both a Futaba S9254 on the Raptor only done about 15 flights or a JR 8700G that came with the gyro seems in very good nick and looks and feels a lot more robust than the Futaba servo.

So which is the best servo JR 8700G or Futaba S9254 and is the JR digital...?

    Thanks in advanced.

The 8700 is supposed to be a very good servo with good lifetimes (not what I'm hearing about the 8900 that replaces it however...) but I haven't used one myself so can't comment on personal experience of usage. I know other people who have used them to very good effect though.
They are both good servos and both digital, so will both work very well.

Try them both and see if you can see a difference
    Cheers,

See Mattydred as he had big problems with his 560 and 8700g servo on his raptor 50 se only recently. He ditched them both in the end and put a 401 and 9254 on.

Basically what Rob said. The 8700g works very well with CSM gyros, it's not strictly a digital servo but you do use it on digital settings with the 560. The 8700g is more robust than the 9254 imho unless you plug it into a Futaba 401 gyro as this pairing doesn't play well together.

Either servo should work well but personally I'd use an 8700g with CSM gyros or even better, get hold of a JR 8900G

out of the 2 you listed i would go with the 8700g without question. i have had a few 9254 failures in 2 years on throttle. i wouldn't trust them on the tail. the 8900g i would also avoid even though i have 3 of them there are too many failing for my liking.

so, my advice get the 8700g.

          cheers

loads of people at our club have had probelms with 9254. I wouldn't bother with them if I where you.
