  • HV cyclic servos for a Trex 700n DFC

I need some new cyclic servos for my 700n DFC. Should I stick with Align BL815H's, or are there better servos available for the same money, or possibly even cheaper?
    Ian Revill

    Align Trex 700n DFC OS105HZ-R BD 3SX
    Align Trex 700e v1 HC-3SX
    Align Trex 550e v1 HC-3SX
    CopterX 450 SE V2 FBL BD 3SX
    Turnigy FBL100
    Hughes 500D with HK450 mechanics

If it's not fun, why do it?

    Maybe have a look at these; 3 X KST BLS815 + 1 X KST BLS805 Tail & Swash Servos For 450-700 RC Helicopter | eBay

I have the 805 tail servo on a 6HV and it seems very good.

Personally, I wouldn't buy 815s now, even though I own 2x full sets.

The reason? They're made by OMG, and if you'd seen the farce on Helifreak about them and their ignorance of obvious quality control issues leading to the US distributor closing it down, you probably wouldn't buy them either.

I'd personally be buying Futaba from RCJapan if not in a rush. If time is a factoy, maybe one of the bundles from JR for about £240.

If you can find the Align BL800H servos cheap, go for those. They're made by Savox, not OMG, but I think supply is finally starting to run low on those.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

I also would not buy the 815s personally but I have an old set working good.

I am very impressed with the JR NX8925s which I have in my Forza 700,i would seriously consider over time going over to these as and when I needed to buy new.

Thanks guys. I've also been trying to understand which Savox's (HV, metal gears) to use on the cyclic of a 700. Anyone know?

            https://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/s...65sat7-4v.html Are Align BL700H servos
            https://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/s...tal-servo.html Are Align 800H servos

All use the same gear set, only the case is different. Good servos. A bit greedy on the power requirements, so use a good BEC (preferably with a buffer battery or super cap) or a high C rated 2S lipo.

+1.. not quite as cheap as they used to be due to exchange rate, but for HV brushless servos at less than £160 for a set of four they are still hard to beat for bang for buck. I have them is a few helis and they are excellent servos. IMHO you would have to be either minted or nuts to pay £100 each for any servo.

Are they defo the same as OMG? the cases look a little different. Hobby king also sell the KST's as turnigy products. That said I do agree being cheap and from China you take a gamble on QC.

All signs point to them being OMG H4. I'm not sure I've seen the internals of the BL815, but there are plenty of pics of the inside of the OMGs about if someone wants to open an 815 up.

Yes, the top case is slightly different, but has the same two screws on that side, H4s came with red/silver anodising when they first came out, and the have the same round servo lead. They're also silent, just like the Aligns, and not many servos were, or are, even now.
Same bad batch problems about the same time, which was apparently down to a bad mosfet.

I'd forgotten about the KSTs. I remember thinking about getting a set if I were to get another 700. But then work took a dive and another 700 (or even replacing the Raptor) is no longer on the cards.

Well, you would be quite hard pressed to find a servo that was not made in China or nearby countries, also i'm not sure paying more in itself assures better QC.

Of the 14 KST servos I've had I did have one DOA but GARTT replaced that without quibble and refunded all shipping costs which is as good service as you would get with even the most premium brands.

How many 700's do you have these servos in? they do look good and my 805 has been fine except on two occasions it has jammed straight after initialization however lately its been fine I reckon in total Ive had 20 flights on it.

Ive got them in a Goblin 630 and in my stretched Trex 600. I also got a set for my flying buddy for his Goblin. The only problem of any kind was that one DOA servo.

As said, 3x BLS272SV HV servos can be had from RCJapan for a LOT less than UK prices.

I've decided to go with RJX 0521 HV servos, one new, two used. They come highly recommended.
