  • Which 9g servo from Hobbyking

    Hi all,

Anyone got any recommendations for the best 9g servo's from Hobbyking/Hong Kong?

I've heard these are supposed to be good:
    HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec Micro Servo

I plan to use them in an old Blade400 and a few aeroplanes.

    Thanks,

they do the job have very poor resolution, my view i would not use them on a helicopter may be just an airplane's if you are desperate to go super cheap. but even there if you use expo they are pretty much useless, since the resolution is poor with expo its like no movement no movement then bang, defies the point of expo, the gears are very coarse which explain the poor res. i have a lot of them lying around i take them right out even on planes when they come on PNF models from HK. something i have learnt over the past buy and using such cheap servos is not to scrimp on servos, you model will fly only as good as your control surfaces (good linkage, throws, horn resolution etc..) and servos that control it, even before pilot skill, just putting good servos, Savox for example is what i use now are still cheap but very good and made a world of difference on the same airplane, same settings where i had HXt initially. so i would absolutely not recommend them. also the gears are very weak and will break on the smallest of bumps both on plane and heli.

they are only a quid each but still not worth it in my opinion.

if you did want HK, here is a list of very good servos that are sold under many different brand names, specially the first link but are very good but then they cost more and an equivalent savox is cheaper and as good may be not as good as the first link but will do great in an airplane.

I am trying these on my latest 450 (Beam E4 SE). The specs are great so as long as the QC is up to scratch they should be very good.

I use the TGY 306G on my 450. They seem very good (but I am not a great judge of these things).

The TGY 306 have a very good reputation on Helifreak, they're often used in budget Gaui X3 builds. I believe early generation servos had an issue where the board could potentially short against the case, but believe that's fixed with all the current ones.

306s are great servos. I wouldn't use anything else on a 450 for cyclic, as there's simply no point spending way more money for a minuscule performance difference that I doubt would show in a real life test.

I had a set in my Warp 360, and currently have a set in my Gaui X3.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

I started using the TGY306's on my 450, can't fault them to be honest.
Then I crashed it, and had to replace them, except hk only had 2 of the 3 I wanted.

My mates have all put them in their 450's.
I suspect that is why I could only get 2, they had brought the stock lol.

I now have the Rotorstar set from the EU warehouse.
And they are just as good as the TGY 306's.

Either are a good choice for helis.
