  • Nano compound for the heat sink?

The spec on this looks pdg compeared to some of the other types of themmal bonding/tape

Nano Diamond Thermal Compound : Thermal Compound : Maplin Electronics

i think i may use this with a small bead of csm silicone around the edge of the sink, just to make sure it do'nt jump off.

    cheers

It doesn't need to be an amazing transfer of heat - not that much is produced and it's spread over quite a wide area unlike CPU's found on computers.

I would recommend arctic silver thermal epoxy. Decent stuff and a great hold.

Thanks Laurence my only concern with the epoxy type is if i want to remove the heat sink for any reason i do'nt fancy taking a hammer n chissel to the esc to get the dam thing off!

the compund you are using will not stick the heatsink it only facilitates the transfer of heat, i use compound at work all the time on electronic items. i would like you said run a bead of silicon around the outside and then probably a cable tie around the whole lot just to make triply sure it won't come off. but also allowing easy removal.

hopefully i have got the right end of the stick

Yes you can do that, a friend of mine has done it by that method, I would also secure the heatsink by velcro or cable tie with that method.

I hope I never have to remove my heatsink They seem pretty crash proof haha...

If there is a chance to remove the heatsink you can use Thermal Tape. Here is a link of a good one, Thermal Tape - 1 Inch Square (148 0012) - FrozenCPU.com
