    Kosmik 200 reversed power connection

    I have just connected up a brand new Kosmik200 the wrong way around while messing about with it on the bench.

    Used Temporary connections only for testing and this time I have just got it wrong.

    Anyway, one loud bang and one of the connectors I was using is more or less disintegrated.

    I didn't actually get around to testing anything but now I have the BEC working and two solid green lights on the unit.Can't seem to get any cell confirmation tones when powering up and can't get anything other than those two green lights.
    They seem to mean that there is a programming error but I have not actually done anything yet.

    There is a valid throttle coming out of the V Bar unit with the trim right down.

    Knackered or not?

    Any ideas?

    just looked at manual, says do not reverse polarity or may knacker esc, two greens as you say prog error. maybe jamin00 could shed some light on it.

      At the very least I would think the input capacitors have had a terrible trauma. Probably all the electronics and high power MOS FETs too.
      If I was at work I would tell people to bin it and never ever trust it. Even if it 'seems OK'.. I just wouldn't.
      Over voltage and reverse voltage is insidious damage in semiconductors - they can seem to work fine for hundreds of hours, then randomly fail, because of the previous damage. Beware.

        Just tried resetting it with the Progdisc and then all I had was a flashing LED1 which wouldn't change.

        Reflashed v4.5 firmware using a ProgUnit and I am now back to two solid greens with no tones at all when the thing is powered up. The BEC is still OK.

        My PC can't seem find the Micro SD card either to check the log.

            Not worth the risk, Replace it and take it as a lesson learnt :/

                Probably terminal... Each of the FETs in the bridge has an inbuilt diode across them you connected the battery to two diodes in series x many in parallel. unfortunately that will be expensive...

                    You need to send it back to Kontronik and they'll probably replace the control board. It will cost.

                            Gutted for you mate

                            I killed my charger by doing a similar thing (didn't adjust the voltage down) I know how you feel but I bet you'll never do it again!!!

                            Hope you get it sorted without too much expense...!!!

                              Just had a quotation for the repair back from Kontronik - 301.90 Euro.

                              Told them to go ahead but have asked for the breakdown of parts to be replaced - just for interest.

                              Won't do that again in a hurry.
