Lots of parallel turns of thin wire is more efficient than a single thick wire at high frequencies. Less dissipation.
Google 'skin effect'.

What kind of frequencies are you suggesting the current flows through our motors at? According to Wikipedia, at 60Hz the skin depth is 8.5mm! My motors are wound with 1.22 (iirc) copper. I dont expect for one moment it is a factor in this size motor. What is, is getting the heat reduced, thus more efficiency.

You should be, ultimately efficiency = power. The more electrical energy converted to mechanical energy the better, less power lost through heat the better.

Waste of money mate, just swap 2 wires round from the ESC it will rewind all day long.
