quad copter help

hi all,,my son has really taken an interest in quadcopters and fancies building himself 1, so as its his birthday soon i thought id get him all the parts required but i dont have a clue about motors and esc,s so i was after some guidence please,, i quiet like the look of this 450 frame on ebay as its looke strong and he will be able to mount esc,s and hide the wires between the frames Multicopter Kit ST450 Aluminium Folding Quadcopter (ST450) | eBay
now the rest of the parts i will probabily get from hobbyking so id like to know what size motors ,props and esc,s i need for this size quad

Why not get a DJI kit like the F450 or the Gaui 450 kit. Both available from quadcopters.co.uk

I have both. The DJI NAZA is the easiest to fly, the Gaui provides more challenge. Both are quite durable.

I use these motors on a 550 frame, and they are very good.
DYS Modelaccessories.co.uk
or you can use the DT750 from HK, cheap and very hardy.
As for esc the Plush 30amp from HK are very hard to beat for the money.

very nice but a little expensive compared to what you can get all the parts for especialy as hes having a dx7 as well

thx for that ,,was looking at the plush esc,s allready,,as for the motors is there a guidline as to kv and watts

General rule is no more than 1kv as you end up using larger props, and you want rev's for quick corrections.
so for a 450 frame use about 8 X 4.5 or 9 X 4.7, the smaller one will be better for aerobatics and the 9 are
good for stability. Those motors are rated up to 40 amp but you never use all the throttle so 30 amp esc
are fine and hardly get warm.

was just looking at the props on the site you linked for the motors and they dont seem to do a 9x4.7 but they do have 10x4.5 or is that too large

Usually get the props from HK or Giantshark for the 8's you sometimes have to wait for HK to have stock but I have ordered whilst it shows backorder
and the have only taken a few day's more. they are in the multirotors section. 10's are going a bit too big, Quad becomes very jerky and hard to dial in.
I have one quad running 3 bladed 7 X 3.5 but suffers from vibration as its hard to balance cheap 3 bladed props. You can get off eBay but they look like they are just HK ones resold.

thx for the help,,was just looking at mtors on the site u linked and seen this 1 DYS Modelaccessories.co.uk
would this 1 have more power as its got 210 wats against the other 1 that has 150 and also it says a 30 amp esc where the other says 40 amp
