    Knowing the head-speed, and the battery 'S', I'd use the CC set-up tool (possibly in demo mode - you don't need a CC ESC) to see what sort of gearing and Kv values will work.

    This won't tell you anything about power or current. In that respect, I'd look at what other people are using, and guestimate based on their flight times.

    Fundamentally, I'd ask someone else...

      Yes I know this thread is about electric motors not nitro.

        I was going to say good old 30% nitro for the go go juice

          Scorpions have a lot more range, 4035 range is the popular range and are very good motors. The rest of their range for 700 class will only start with the prefix 4xxx or 5xxx as the rest are for smaller size heli's. As for the KV this is how fast it will spin and therefore determine your headspeed. Higher KV = higher head speed less torque, Lower KV = lower head speed higher torque.

          To determine what motor for what heli then you first need to the the gear ratio then this will give you the ideal motor KV to get. Then you can go pick then you have the normal motors or more expensive high powered motors but always look for the continuous ratings more than the peak. The motors with crazy peaks are powerful and fun but not needed for any flyer, its only if you want the power like I do. I love to have it there as its awesome

            Yeh I've been spoilt for years with Nitro and keeping it simple I did have a Dyna-X electric years ago but again this was before the days when electrics where everywhere and the market had exploded into what it is today far less choice back then and easier....

            Now its just mental....

              i have the experience of a kde700xf (currently useing in my700rex v2) and scorpion 4525-520 both are awesome motors the kde has bags of torque the climbouts are insane the scorpuon is also very nice not so torquey but silky smooth, but it really depends on what flyer you are for me the more power the better. p.s there both very effecient much more so than aligns mx motors which to be fair are ok.
