  • Motor options for the kraken?

Hi guys, I am after suggestion for motor options on the new goblin kraken.

My setup so far is below:
    kyle Stacy servos
    kosmik 160 esc
    vbar neo

ideally im looking at a headspeef of 1800rpm/1900rpm. So don’t need anything too fancy.

Something on a budget would be good :-)

Thanks for this, but only wanted to buy something new. Just don't know if I would trust a used motor unless it was from someone I knew.

Maybe I've just been lucky but I have loads of 2nd hand motors and never had a bad one. In fact the only motor I ever had a problem with was a new Turnigy Helidrive motor - some kind of improper termination issue.

I'm with Sheryl, I've bought many second hand motors and never had an issue.

I just think for the price of the kit it’s worth just going for a new one maybe?

The Align motors are generally the most value for money. But it looks like the 700mx has been replaced by the 800 and 850. The 850 is very heavy! and
with the Kosmik you're tallying up some weight in there.

I don't know anything about these motors, just spotted this on Align-Trex, much lighter than the Aligns: https://www.align-trex.co.uk/catalog...category/1174/

I'm sure the Align 800mx would do the job with power to spare and it's going to be the cheapest new.

Grumpy has that Specter motor in, surprisingly, his Specter. Or he did if not any more.

I've got an Align 800MX with 8mm shaft in my Goblin. I bought it new from Raj. I didn't even know you could get that motor with that shaft, but while you can, there's no replacement if you bend / break it and would have to go back to 6mm.

It's more power than I'll ever use. Unless you're constantly on the pitch, it's doubtful you'd need more power.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Yeah, I'm using the XLPower motor in my Specter and it does fine for my needs. I have a Compass SZ4926 510kV collecting dust if you want a very cheap option, it runs fine and is a powerhouse of a motor, if a bit big and heavy.

I’ve got an Egodrift from Alessio to try on mine, to go with a Kosmik 160 (just waiting for the kit to arrive). Similar motor to that Kan is using on the XL, and with my style of flying, should work well with the 160.

Just taken a Pyro 650 off my G570 for an Egodrift, and impressed at how nicely it’s playing with with my Kontronik Jive Pro. Peak current has gone down from 137 amps to 86 amps. So smooth on power delivery. https://www.egodrift.com/tengu-4035-...ter-motor.html
