  • Motor pulsing quickly

    Hey all,

I was flying my Fusion yesterday and all of a sudden, the motor started pusling badly when in IU2 (2250 HS). Flicking down in to IU (2100 HS) it vanished. Looking at the logs, I can't see anything obvious however? Packs were fully charged, and it was happening in the hover. Motor was pretty hot after the flight, hotter than normal I would say.

    Motor is a 600MX 510Kv.

I have the timing at 5, poles 10, PWM at 12kHz.

Soft cutoff, Current limiting is disabled, volts/cell LVC is 3.3v, current cutoff is soft.

    Any ideas?

I think maybe my LVC was too high at 3.3v per cell. Looking at the logs, when the RPM is dropping and fluctuating (when the pulsing presumably occurred), the current wasn't particularly high or low, but the voltage dropped to 40v, which is nigh on 3.3v per cell. According to the CC helper, 3.0v per cell is the default, but I don't remember ever chaging this, so I've knocked it back to 3.0v, lowered the gov gain a little so I'll see how it goes this afternoon

Is it governed or just using curves?
      cheers Lee

If it ain't broke fix it until it is
yes i'm an idiot and no i couldn't care any less

aaaaah using gov! your probably correct about the voltage cut off, not too clued up on electrics but i do know the hot weather will liven up your lipos so youll be getting more rpm so the gov settings/gain will need tweeking
        cheers Lee

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It was easily 25C+ yesterday so much warmer than the last time I flew the fusion.
