  • Accucel 6 pre-purchase questions

The charger, apparently, is not supplied with a temperature sensor. (I haven't bought one yet)
What is the purpose of this sensor and where does one see the reading?

Also, can several 3S packs be charged in parallel?

I have an Accucel and was using it with a Parallel charging board to charge my 6s 5000mah Lipos until I bought a PL8. The sensor is attached to a Lipo to make sure it is not overheating during charging. I never used one, because I usually feel each Lipo and monitor the charging all the time. It would STOP the charge if the temp got too high.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

Thanks, that's very helpful. There is quite a bit of discussion about using parallel charging relating to equalising cell voltages. What are your views on this?

I have this charger. I've had it for about a year now. No complaints from me. I use it to charge my 3s 2200 and my 6s 2700.
I don't think you can charge a 5000 from it using 1c. I definitely can't with my 2700. (this charger is only 50w) But I am happy just charging my 2700 6s at 1.5amp. Only takes just over an hour.

Regarding parallel charging... I have actually just been reading up on this today. This is what I've been reading: What is Parallel Charging and why is it for me?

Seems it's safer than series charging (I have a series cable bought from Hobbyking that allows me to charge 2 3S but I don't use it anymore) so I'm planning on trying out parallel charging but I will need a bigger charger for my trex 500 batteries

Yeah it will tell you it charges at 5 amps...But is 50 w so 6s packs charge at various rates depending on what battery your charging. It can be misleading.

The Accucel I rate at very, very good when using the Blalance settings. Although it does take a long time to equalise.
