  • charging turnigy 3000mah 6s at 2 or 3c on cellpro 10s+parallel charge board\/

Have many of you charged a turnigy lipo at more than 1c? Im just thinking of eventually charging at 2c with the 3000 6s I have, just to cut down charge time a little. It is on a cellpro 10s so its a quality charger.

Also, is there a board I can use to parallel charge maybe 2 or even 4 at a time for the cp 10s, I know the multi charge boardd is available for the 10xp etc but what will work on just the 10s? I have bullets in the plastic shrouds on the discharge leads of the lipo and esc as the turnigys come with these on them.

    cheers

well ... I had the same conversation already, so lets start with the first question: whats the power supply you have got to hand? bear in mind the Cellpro 10S allows max. 12-16V input and delivers a max. 10A output.

or to keep it short, you could charge in parallel but not even at 1C you would go to fewer Amps but it doesnt help it much really. What I did however to reduce charging time is using eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace and I charge at 8A just to leave some headroom, 1C charges usually at 4A via the balancing board only

dont know if this helps, hopefully

      Charge my Turnigy Nanos 3300mah at 3 C at the field - 3300 @ 1C = 3.3 amps so 3 C charge = 9.9 amps
You would need to charge your batteried at 6 amps for a 2C charge

The 10s needs to connected by the discharge leads as well to do more than a 1C charge.

Seems to me you are ready fot the PL6

well I though 1C stands for charge current of 1 time the actual rated capacity. So in his case 3300mah, 1C would equal 3300mah or 3.3A, hence charging multiple packs lowers to less than 1C if exceeding the max 10A the cellpro 10S can deliver ... as I wrote I use 8A (on 5000mah) to leave some headroom for my charger ...

edit: Paul, did you edit your post?!?

sidenote: I also look into the PL6 atm ..

I have been charging my Blue Turnigys at 2 to 3c for a fair while,3000s,3300s and 4000s with no apparent problems.

as I wrote earlier, the 10S has a max 10A output - so when charging 3C @4000mah it would max out the charger, I doubt it delivered 3C in that case ...

Thanks for the replies and advice people, I have a 400w 32amp 12v power supply, I recently bought a 10s secondhand and a psu from here, it seems a pl6 maybe what I should have got, alot of people did advise me to get the pl6 its just I didn't want to splash out £160 on the pl6+£100 for a 500-1000w psu+balance boards+para board.

I just hate waiting for the lipos to charge, and 2-3c charging seems an attractive option with the 10s, especially when you are sitting looking at them when the suns out

but not on the cellpro 10S is it? as mentioned the 10S can deliver 10A output max, so I assume its the PL8 than can deliver up to 40A out ..

but back to the original question, I still believe Simon, you could charge 2 @1C =6.6A when connectiong the discharge leads or you set it to a fixed A . eg. 9A to leave some headroom, when charging 2x 3300mah ... if you would be charging 4x 3300mah thats 13.2A which the 10S can't deliver so it would be less than 1C or roughly 2.4A ...

Simon, I charge a 5000mah in roughly 19minutes ... thats quite ok with the discharge leads ...

well - actually I thought he asked for more details on that than just if you ever charged higher than 1C (as this is the max C rate you may charge it on, it should be able to handle it anyway) - no worries mate ..

You both answered my questions to be honest, i may sell the cellpro 10s and just take the plunge and get the pl6.
