  • Ec5 plugs

Wonder if some one can tell me if the EC5 plugs will fit onto Turnigy 5000mah battery. The wires look a little on the thick side to
fit though the plastic socket. If not is there any recommendations for different plugs. Many thanks.

The Zippy packs are up to 8AWG and can be tight to get in but you can shave a little of the conductor off and it'll fit. The standard Turnigy blues are 10 and are fine

Thanks very much waveydavey. Yes I have the Turnigy blue. I could not remember what plug I used last time. Old age does not come alone lol.
      Thanks again.
Just an update I found the blue packs are the 8swg and donot fit the ec5 plugs I have unfortunately. Wire is to thick to pass through
plastic housing before soldering. Is there different types of ec5 plugs? different sizes?

Sorry Treff, youve lost me ?

Are you saying that when trying to build an EC5 you are putting the red\black wire through the EC5 and then soldering the bullet on ?

Hi mutley , that is the way I make them up , they are designed to pull back through the plastic once soldered , Kd

Interesting, I've never done them that way.

i put the bullet on outside of the connector, once cooled I put some heat shrink on the wire, put it into the top of the EC5 and knock it down into place. Then I can heat shrink right onto the top of the ec5.

I guess this is the reason I've not come into the issue of 8awg wire.

The ones I use have shoulder at the front and a wedge at the rear so only fit by pulling back through once soldered , like here. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dz9OvoBBscQ , I have now seen others on YouTube doing it the other way but the ones I have wont fit by pushing in after soldering, I did try it & it smashed the housing to bits

EC5 the first ones i ever got u put the wires through the housing first and then soldered ,one connection was a bullet the 2nd open ended .
but the 2nd lot were both open ended & you soldered them first ,then push them in the housing . hope that helps i be-leave they are not original, but casings color look same .
really a pain when u think they will go to same way .

Thanks all for the comment. Yes, I believe there are different ones which is very frustrating. The ones I have will not allow 8swg to go through the housing first.
How do you know the difference when you by them? It's stopping me from finishing a heli so a little peeppppppppped off.
