  • 6s 5000mah turnigy packs wont charge at more thna 3.0A

I have 4 6s5000mah Turnigy packs charging in parallel on an Overlander 80W 7.0A charger but although on 7A they wont charge at more then 3.0-3.4A.

My 3 3s2200mah packs will charge at 7.0A.

Any ideas why my 6s 5000Mah wont charge at 7.0 amps? I'm sure they did on the first charge. Internal resistances are good and The packs are within 0.1v of eachother when starting charge. Currently taking 4hrs to put 12,000mah in when it should be closer to 2 1/4 hours. Only had 10 charges each and never discharged below 3.75v per cell yet.

The charger is limited to 80 Watts.
    80W / 25.2 Volts = 3.2 Amps max.

You need a more manly charger, one with at least a few hairs on its chest.

yep, as dillwacker points out, your charger is limited to 80W or 7A (whichever limit it hits first). On anything other than 2s batteries it's the 80W limit that governs.

If you have serious batteries then you either need a serious charger or lots of patience.

Thanks all for the replies and the maths lesson dillwhacker. As long as it's not the packs are duff then I have patience and I'm getting a new charger for my b'day from my old man. Cheers

I did not buy from Coolice as I made one up myself but if you don't want to do that yourself then the Coolice option is a great one. You get a great power supply for an affordable price and that will do you no matter what you fly in the future (unless you turn pro perhaps!!!).
