Id convert two server power supplies, which will give you 24V @ ~65Amps depending on what models you get.
So thats a 1500W powersupply, usually for less than £50, but then thats me because im tight.... the other advantage is that they are generally very hard wearing, with a mean time to failure that is usually a lot better than consumer stuff.
The downside is that you, or somebody has to convert and make running them in series safe, which is sometimes very straightforward, and othertimes not so...Logo 600 3D --- Vortex Vx1n

Using 2x converted dell power supplies at the moment which are banked together to give me 24v and 48A output, works a treat. Thanks!

PL8 Power Supply ???
+1 on that (except 2 x HP units instead). I've mounted mine in a plastic storage crate with 2 grilles cut into the side. I've also wired for 12 or 24v as I couldn't be bothered to replace the fans with quiet ones - 2 running is a bit loud. If I'm only charging at low current or small numbers of cells then 12v is fine.Originally posted by ROSSCO View PostUsing 2x converted dell power supplies at the moment which are banked together to give me 24v and 48A output, works a treat.
Think it was xygax' contribution to a thread that helped me to mod the units to function correctly (cheers!).
Aside from saving some cash it was good to learn what's making it all tick!Last edited by Simon Towers; 26-01-2013, 10:02 PM.

I can think of six of us that have that one Ian. What I like is the variable output so it is way more flexible than a fixed output supply.Originally posted by Red3 View Postsome at our club including me use this Switch Mode Power Supply 30V/30A
