    Hi all,

I want a decent charger for the 6S packs I'll be buying to fly the Fusion 50 12S. Is the PL6 overkill?

I was going to get the 1420i, but nowhere has any stock. The PL6 is "only" £50 more, but in the grand scheme its nothing in this hobby lol.

Thinking of going for this DC 1000W Combo Parallel Lipo Charger CellPro PowerLab 6 - Battery Chargers/Power S Parallel LiPO Chargers - ALIGN-TREX.co.uk (using their 5% vacation discount), running off a fusion 600W. I will only ever be charging 2 6S 3300mAh-4000mAh or 4 3S 2300mAh packs at once so I won't go above the 600W limit.

Does that come with everything I'd need, other than a 4mm bullet to EC5 adapter for the input?

Definitely not over kill as i use a pl8 and my largest heli is a trex500. To be honest, i dont see the point in the pl6, cause for a few more beertokens you can get a pl8. Just phone around and see who will do you the best deal.

Definitely get a PL6 or PL8 they are brilliant. I highly rate my PL8 and would only replace it with another if it failed.

+1 truly the most versatile and useful chargers. It is money well invested as it will look after your batteries and charge many different types of all capacities.

Yeah I can say with fair certainty that I will never go more than 12s. So what else is there between the two?

Ok other than the cell count these are the changes that I'm aware of.

              PL8 has 1344W charging output.
PL8 has 100W internal discharge capability.

              --

              PL6 has 1000W charging output.
PL6 has 50W internal discharge capability.
PL6 does not support charging through the balance lead only.
              PL6 is slightly smaller.

Cheers mate. So nothing there I'd miss. I never really discharge packs via a charger anyway. As long as it'll charge 2 6S packs at 1C

So is that a sign that it's straining or is it purely just to keep it cool?

Will I need any special boards to charge 2 6S or 4 3S at once?

Or does this have everything I need?

Also note that you may need an EC5 connector for your PSU unless you change this connector.

You have a PSU if I remember .

Yeah I'll be using it with a Fusion 600W. I'll be buying or making a lead to convert bullets for the input. Infact, I'll need a few if those boards just have bullet connectors. Would rather not have to do lots of soldering as I'm crap at it.

                              EDIT: This? http://www.align-trex.co.uk/ec5-char...c5-p-3002.html
