  • Power Lab 8 - Slow Charge

I got me one of those Power Lab 8 chargers last week... Not quite figured out how it makes a cup of tea, but it does everything else.

Charges my 6s batteries like a charm, but tonight i put my 3S DX7 battery on it to charge it. Set it to 2Amps and started it off.

For some reason it is only pumping .6 of an amp into the battery? Tried it on Accurate and Fast and .6 is the most it will pump in. All cells on the battery are good, and in balance.

Any thoughts on why it might be doing this?

Does the battery have a high internal resistance? I don't know about the Powerlab 8, but as far as I know (I don't own one) the Cellpro 10s/4s chargers measure this to determine the safe charge rate.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Not too sure, i dont have the option to plug the battery into the terminals, so unable to determine cell resistance.

I have found a check box which says "Balance Entire Charge" Wondering if this might the cause. Reading the manual the moment, but noting is jumping out at me!

        Try either
        a) generate fuel table for that battery
        or
        b) set charge rate manually (if you already didn't)

Fuel tables are almost always needed to charge when using automatic (1C, 2C, 3C) setting and for manual charge they are used to determine total capacity of the pack.
If that doesn't help, the battery must have a high resistance.

Thanks mate, was playing with fuel tables yesterday and found out how good they are. Ill give it a wizz and see what the outcome is.

Have a look at the bypass display, you should be able to see there if you have a problem cell as the other 2 will be showing a high %
