  • Pl8 cell over voltage

    Hi,
ive been out of the game for a while now but today thought I would reignite the fire.
got all my gear and and started by charging my batteries. Kicked the pl8 off and after 10 seconds a get a error saying cell over voltage.
after checking the battery all cell are surprisingly very close to each other as I did storage them last off.
im charging with a mpa board and I have tried every port and even different cell batteries and al do the same.
I’ve tried a single board but the same happens again.
I've cleaned all the contacts with no luck.

i have a older charger that I’ve fired up and works just fine and charges the battery without a problem but it’s not very powerful so no good long term.

is the charger done for or has anyone come across this and was able to fix it?

    thanks

Could if be a faulty wire or pin on the battery balance connector? So the charger sees one cell less than it should but also sees the next cell as the cumulative voltage of two cells... If you get what i mean.

EDIT.. on re-reading I see you have tried different batteries, so forget my suggestion.

Is the charger set to the correct battery chemistry type?

Yes I have it set to xh but have also tried fma too just to check.
Have been trying and trying now all I get is bad cell count.
Have connected it to the computer and when kicking off a charger it briefly goes to 4s then back to 6s and errors.
i have also checked the voltages on the mpa balance connectors and all are what you would expect, I did the same on the Balance port for n the charger (unscrewed it all to test the back of the pins) and everything was showing what it should.

this means that everything from the port to the battery is correct so it’s looking more and more like the charger is bust.

Just a little update, it's going back to the factory for a service/repair.
