  • PL8 - how to read LCD info when serial charging

    Just a quick question...
When I'm charging 2 6s 5000mah, is there a way of reading how much is in each cell voltage wise?
I think it only shows me 6 cells.. so what about the other pack? Is there no way of seeing all 12 cells?

That's the whole thing about parallel - it can't see individual cells as they're essential connected up via a fancy Y lead. Essentially, you have 12 cells going into 6 'charge ports' if you will. This is why, at first, I was really wary of parallel charging. Once I ready up on it more and took necessary precautions however, I felt much happier doing it. Now I couldn't imaging going back to charging each pack individually!

Best to check them before charging with a fusion smart guard or similar. That way you know the packs are in good health before attempting to parallel charge them. The pl8 is an awesome charger.

Sorry - I don't know what it is called... it's when I'm charging 2 packs at the same time. like my 700 packs. (2x 6s 5000)

Parallel is like having one 6 cell pack with twice the capacity. The charger will see the first 2 cells as 1 but X2 the capacity. With serial charging then, you truly do have 12 cells and you'd need a PL12 to charge them. Don't think the PL8 is designed for it, thats where the PL comes from
