PL8 just gone woof?

Plugged in my lipo and bang, smoke and sparks out the back of the fans. Pulled lipo and switched off power. Lipo seems okay but connector is welded to the bullet. Will post a picture in a minute but my charger is dead.

just checked all my leads, everything is plugged in as it should be, can't work out what he hell has gone on?

Bit bummed out as I know how much its going to cost to replace this. I know there is no warranty as I bought this secondhand and I've used it a lot. Still can't see what I did wrong.

might be worth a call to aurorra (assuming they still sell these chargers) an see if they can repair it.

Aurora don't deal with Revo anymore, the importer is Opti I think

Not sure I'd trust a repaired one. The smell is awful. I only fly up to 6s so wondering if a pl6 would do the job and keep my costs down a bit.

PL6 is fine and plenty good enough for 6s Simon.

Aurora certainly do still sell Revolectrix stuff, even if they aren't the distributor any more.

Our club chairman went to Mike's house the other week to buy a power lab 8. It took him 5 hours to go and fetch it. He left the field at 1PM, came back at 6PM as I was packing up, even though it was only a half hour drive each way. They've known each other for years and seemingly both could talk for England.

Any idea how old the charger actually is?
If its not too old i'd get in touch with the distributer or revo themselves see if something can be done.. if not then it looks like you'll have to buy another one :-/

Guess I'm back on the intros tomorrow then! Is the PL6 still okay for parallel charging etc?

Isnt the PL6 the same but only does 6s instead of 8 and 1000w instead of 1344w??

I guess its like any electronic equipment it can go pop at any moment for almost no reason at all. My guess is even if you had purchased it new if you have had it over a year then it would be out of warranty anyway.. perhaps just bad luck.

Give them a ring or email.. see if they will help you out in someway and if not either buy a pl6 (same charger but only does upto 6s not 8s) or put up a wanted ad see if anyone comes forward. Or take a look at the ichargers as a cheaper option?
