  • PL8 and 6s charging

    Hi All

I am new to 6s charging and have ordered one of Coolice's custom PSU (24V 1150W 47amp) units and just got a PL8 with a MPA board

I am trying to work out how many 6s 5000 mah packs I could parallel charge with the above setup if i purchased a 2nd MPA board? I currently have 12 packs and want to reduce my charging time.

Have been researching I think 9 at once is the max number based on the below

    9 packs x 5000 mah = 45 amps

    6s have around 24v so

    24v x 9 packs x 5 amps = 1080watts

    Does this sound right?

    Thanks, Andy

Yep your maths is right. Don't own this charger myself so don't know if there are any limitations.

This is why it is handy having a PSU that isn't limited to 24V for high power charging ...

You won't get 1300W out of the PL8 though, need 32V to drive the PL8 to its limits.

On 6s you will get 1008w at max 40a out of a PL8, 8s you will get 1344.

Cell count (Volts) x Amps = Watts

                    (6x4.2)x40=1008

Don't forget to tell the settings in the charger that you are using the MPA board or it will not read the cells right.
