Battery wires

I bought a 3s 850mah battery for my trex 250 and it's got 2 red wires and 2 black. A pair of the red and black wires are already fitted with the matching connector thats on the ESC, and the other pair is free awaiting a connector. Am I right in thinking I can solder a deans connector on to these free wires to use with my charger, and then use the other connector when I'm connecting it to the ESC?

I thought I'd ask before I did some damage

Yes,but i just used both wires to my chosen connector.

Are we sure the other two wires aren't the balance wires? - it is a 3S pack...

I assume that as you've posted this in the Optipower section, you must have the Optipower 850mAh battery, in which case you should have two discharge wires, which will be thicker gauge than the others and terminated in a red JST connector to go to the ESC. The other wires which are thinner and there should be three black and one red should terminate in a JST-XH balance adaptor for connecting to the charger - if you use these to discharge the battery then you will cause damage as these are only for balancing the packs.....

This pack has 2 sets of discharge wires and a balance lead.

I know about about the balance leads thanks guys, but I'd never seen two pairs of discharge leads, so when I opened the box I was a bit confused.
