  • Optipower please do a sale :-)

Not that it's any surprise really but today I could see really well how much better the Optis are than the Turnigy's in my Trex 500.

I only have one Opti for the 500 right now, mostly Turnigy (2650mah 30-40c), one Gen's Ace and one odd brand thingy I got cheap (and a Zippy I got cheap).

I flew all 7 of my packs with the 500 today and doing the exact same moves where it would struggle a bit with the Turnigy's (things like big loops, cuban 8s, etc. where you need the pullling power going up) the Opti is clearly better. Partly due to being lighter and partly just more punch, less bogging.

I'd love to have all Optis but at nearly double the price of the cheap ones I'll make do with what I have for now, but Optipower if you're listening.... how about a supermarket style buy three for the price of two . 'Just a thought, 'just plant'n those seeds, ya never know.

I've got other idea, maybe less popular

Please continue selling at current prices and investing in battery business. UK desperately needed a reasonable priced, good quality UK battery brand and Optipower fills that need perfectly.
I'd like to see higher real C rates in the future. 45C real C packs would be great (not sure if this possible at all).

My 6s 2700 I swear has lost some of its punch on cycle 9 but will see how it goes to confirm.Sideways tic tocs 30 secs in bogged terrible,Turnigy at 1 min didn't plain to see by all.

30 cycle Turnigy has just as low IR and was equally as powerful yesterday but maybe the Opti hasnt woken up yet, started out really strong though.

If I had to buy a lipo today,,,,Turnigy.

I will say, my Turnigy packs have been going strong for a year now and at the price I paid I seriously cannot complain. I just weighed the Opti 2700 and it is actually only 12 grams lighter than the Turniy 2650 30-40c packs but it's smaller. I think the main difference is the Opti can deliver just that wee bit more punch at times. But I think I'll see these Turnigys do another full season, which at the price is certainly good value. (plus it's nice knowing my potential crash cost is that bit lower, which is something I had not thought about in terms of LiPo prices).

IR between 1 and 2 cell balance spot on.

Turnigy ir at 2 and balance spot on also.

2010 purchased Turnigys at IR 4 and balance spot on for comparison.

I have 1 25C 5000 6s Turnigy that's 1 yr old, 151 cycles & IR's 3 across all. My newest is 2 months old & has 49 cycles & IR's 1.8 across all & infact they actually went down yesterday. They have been 2.2 since new so good news.

For £50 shipped it's win win

OK here's an idea; In the past some brands of nitro fuel have done bulk discounts and it was possible for a club to pool together and buy several cases and save some money. Someone should do the same concept with Lipos now with so many electric flyers out there. A club could buy a bulk quantity of something very standard like 6s 5000mah (or better yet if the brand doing the bulk offer would allow some degree of mix n match).

I'm new to this and can't comment on Opti but I'm flying Turnigy 3300 back to back with gens Ace 3300's. The gens ace are a little lighter but they really have the edge on the Turnigy and didn't seem to drop off like the Turnigy towards my 5 min timer. Impressed with both though

Optipower seem to be flavour of the month at the moment. Whilst they retain that status they are unlikely to be any bargains to be had.
Finless bob on hf started an interesting thread about how all the lipos are only produced by around three manufacturers. When a new brand is started they are supplied with the best quality cells. But as time goes by they are seeded with a percentage of poor cells which accounts for brands going out of favour as quickly as they come in. Bobs theory was the best thing was to buy lipos from new brands asap and then move on after the 'honeymoon' period. I will try ti dig up the thread

I don't believe that. Firstly some lipo's are crap right off the bat whereas others are outstanding so that kills that theory dead instantly. I believe it's more extremely good marketing that gets everyone buying them & once the everyday no BS flyer gets hold of them & raks up a lot of hours the truth becomes more aparent & so the new flavour begins to lose it's taste in some cases. However with Revelextric packs it's the price that's killed them off rather than performance. I don't know if anyone still uses them but at near £200 for a 6s

Wow!! so could this see their return?? That's £70 for a 6s 5000 which is £40 cheaper but 25g heavier. As it's U.S though i guess Shipping & VAT will push it up to the same as opti power.
